GOSWELL Road in Windsor has been closed after part of the roof on the Travelodge Hotel came loose.

Firefighters from Slough were called to the scene at 11am. A high level platform was brought in from Buckinghamshire to enable the crew to get up to where a soffit board panel under the roof has come loose.

A spokesman for the Windsor Yards (formerly King Edward Court) shopping centre said: “A total of four panels were removed by the fire service, and Goswell Road will remain closed until an investigation of the remaining structure has been conducted by an engineer. The Travelodge hotel and Windsor Yards both remain open as usual and we would like to thank the fire service for their prompt attendance and assistance.

“The safety of our colleagues, customers and the community is our number one priority, and we will of course keep all updated once we know when the situation will be resolved.”
