A sweet new resident arrived in Peascod Street last week when Krispy Kreme opened its 109th UK doughnut shop in Windsor.

First in line for the opening was student Jamie Webb who received a year's a supply of doughnuts - while spot prizes were given out to other customers during the day.

Mr Webb could not quite match the enthusiasm of doughnuts lovers at some other Krispy Kreme openings, who a spokesman solemnly insisted had queued all night - but he had been there since 8am.

He said: “As soon as I heard that there was a Krispy Kreme opening right by my college I knew I wanted to be the first in line to get my hands on a year’s supply of doughnuts.”

Neil Williamson, Operations Director at Krispy Kreme, said: “Thank you to everybody who came down to our opening on Peascod Street today, we’ve a wonderful time meeting some of our Windsor fans.”
