ASPIRING photographers could have their scenic snaps permanently displayed in a new building, as part of a competition.

Housebuilder McCarthy and Stone wants Surrey residents to take pictures of Virginia Water in the winter. Entries could include anything from the frost settling at Windsor Great Park, the icy Virginia Water Lake, or hands warming by the fireplace. The lucky winner will receive a £100 Marks & Spencer voucher, and their photography will be displayed in Augustus House, Station Parade. Augustus House is currently under construction in the village and will provide 59 retirement homes when finished. The competition closes at midnight on February 10.

Georgina Akers, for McCarthy and Stone South East, said: “Virginia Water is the perfect place for downsizers and retirees to settle, with its fabulous combination of local amenities, beautiful scenery and excellent transport links. We are looking forward to seeing the village in the winter through the eyes of those who know it best – its residents – and we’re excited to see how they’ll showcase all that Surrey and Virginia Water offers.”
