A VILLAGE postmaster of 35 years has passed away.

Narinder Singh Battoo, 80, who ran the former post office in Park Street, Colnbrook, was a well-known figure in the neighbourhood.

His son, Satinder Battoo, 52, of Langley, said: “He came from Kenya, where he had been a teacher for 20 years, before becoming the postmaster of Colnbrook Post Office for 35 years. Lots of people in Colnbrook and the surrounding areas knew him.

“Since he had been part of Colnbrook for so long, I wanted to give people a chance to say goodbye.”

His funeral will be held on Monday (December 4) at 11.30pm at Slough Crematorium . All are welcome to attend. He leaves behind a devoted wife, Mohinder Battoo, three sons and daughters in law, and eight grandchildren.

The family request that instead of leaving flowers, guests consider making a donation to the Khalsa Aid charity at www.khalsaaid.org
