POLICE say they are in the 'very early' stages of investigating an incident at a block of flats, which has been taped off this morning.

A resident in the block, at the junction of Bridge Road and Oldfield Road, Maidenhead, heard a series of loud noises before 6am and went to investigate. He found a neighbour’s door had been forced open.

When Thames Valley Police arrived there was noone inside the flat but there was 'considerable damage' to the front door and also further damage inside the property.

A TVP spokesperson said: "This is at the very early stage of the investigation to determine the circumstances which led up to this incident. Officers have cordoned off the area while they carry out their investigation and are carrying out house to house enquiries."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting ref 147 17/11.
