Datchet should link up with the neighbouring villages of Wraysbury and Horton if the planned 'cull' of councillors on the Royal Borough goes ahead.

That was the overwhelming view of the village's parish councillors on Monday, when the expected reduction in Royal Borough representatives was discussed.

Horton and Wraysbury are currently represented as one ward on the Royal Borough with two councillors. Datchet also has two.

Cllr Ewan Larcombe proposed that Datchet should indicate to the Royal Borough that it would choose to be merged with its neighbouring villages, rather than Old Windsor on the other side of the river.

The villages would then lose one of their four councillors.

At the same meeting on Monday Datchet councillors heard from Cllr Ian Thompson that it was hoped a Post Office service could be brought back to the village - in the form of a weekly two hour service at the library, an idea supported by Post Office bosses.
