A 20-year-old man from Slough was jailed for five years and 10 months on Friday for drug dealing and assaults including a vicious knife attack in Osgood Park, Windsor.

Caleb Fleming, of Long Furlong Drive, Slough, pleaded guilty at Reading Crown Court to charges of possession with intent to supply heroin, crack cocaine, cannabis and possession of MDMA.

He was also charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.

On February 23 at around 5pm in Osgood Park, Windsor, Fleming and another man Liam Brown, attacked two men. One victim was punched and stamped on before Fleming hit his head against a wooden post a number of times.

Fleming and Brown then punched at the second man before Fleming slashed at his face with a knife.

The first victim, aged 20, suffered cuts and bruising to his face and hands. The second victim, a 26 year old man suffered a slash wound which required three stitches.

A month earlier Fleming had tried to escape from officers when they challenged him in Wolf Lane, Windsor on January 26.

When they caught him they found a large amount of class A drugs concealed in his trousers and a further package containing Class A drugs was found in a bush nearby.

The attempted robbery charge covered an offence in St Peters Close, Burnham on December 29, 2015 where Fleming threatened a victim with a knife and demanded his belongings.

Brown, 20, formerly of Hemming Way, Slough, was sentenced to four years' imprisonment at an earlier hearing at Reading Crown Court in August 2017 for his part in causing actual bodily harm and for possession with intent to supply heroin.

The sentence for the drugs offence was connected to an incident on September 29, 2016 when Brown escaped police after they attempted to stop his vehicle in Coulson Way, Burnham.

He was found by officers hiding in a bush nearby. He had a bladed article onhim and a large amount of heroin was found in the rear of the vehicle.

Detective Constable Martin Key of the Investigation Hub based at Maidenhead Police Station said: "The attack on the two men in Osgood Park was calculated and targeted. The two victims were innocently walking through the park during the middle of the day. The level of violence used by both Fleming and Brown was extreme and aggravated by the use of a knife.

"The sentence that has been imposed should act as a warning to anybody who carries any drugs or bladed articles with them in a public place. Thames Valley Police work tirelessly to take drugs and knives off of our streets and will continue to do so to ensure the safety of our local residents."

*Fleming's arrest in Wolf Lane, Windsor was as a result of Op London, Thames Valley Police's operation targeting drug dealers in Dedworth forming a relationship with vulnerable individuals and then 'setting up shop' in their homes.

The operation involved multiple agencies working together, providing intelligence that led to Fleming being caught.
