A MAN from Slough has been convicted for causing the death of a woman through careless driving.
Bayonle Kayode, 29, of Warpole Road, Slough, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving at a hearing prior to his sentencing on Monday, September 11.
He was sentenced to three months imprisonment, suspended for two years, and ordered to complete 280 hours of unpaid work. He was also fined £1,000, and was disqualified from driving for two years.
Mr Kayode had been driving along the A404 Marlow Bypass on September 12, 2016, when he failed to notice that traffic ahead of him was slowing down and collided with another vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle, Janice Swain, 43, of High Wycombe, was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, but later died of her injuries. Her daughter Georgia, 18, also required hospital treatment, but made a full recovery. Their dog, Peaches, also died in the days following the crash.
The investigating officer, PC Sandra Terry, said: “This collision could have been avoided had Bayonle Kayode been paying attention to the road, however he failed to notice that the traffic ahead of him was slowing down and thus collided with a VW Beetle.
“Kayode admitted to careless driving, which resulted in Janice Swain losing her life. He will have this on his conscience for the rest of his life.”
