Dedicated new writers waiting for their breakthrough will team with established authors to entertain literature lovers at this year's Windsor Festival.

The Meet the Authors event will happen at the Guildhall on Thursday, September 21 at 7pm.

Short story writer Jonathan Posner, historical author Essie Fox, romance storyteller Julie Cohen and crime novelists Tessa Harris and Oliver Tidy will be appearing alongside former director of literature at the Arts Council Gary McKeone.

They all have one thing in common. They have been guests of or have given encouragement to the Windsor Writers - a dedicated team of people in the town who get together regularly to talk about and practice the art of writing.

The Windsor Writers have got together and published their own book called Windsor Tales and each story has been illustrated with a specially commissioned painting. They will be discussing it with the more established guests during the evening.

Festival director Martin Denny said: "The Windsor Writers were inspired to get together by a pervious Windsor Festival event so it is nice that they have come back to take part in this event."

Originally it was planned to let the audience vote on which of the five established authors' books they would most like to read.

That potentially explosive element has now been dropped in favour of a less potentially awkward literary discussion evening.
