St John Ambulance is looking for adult volunteers to be youth leaders with its Cadet Unit in Maidenhead.

The 25 cadets are aged 10 to 17-years-old and meet in the town on a Thursday evening to learn basic life saving skills during term time and work towards their Grand Prior Award.

Nathan Jones, District Youth Lead, said: ‘We are not asking people to give huge amounts of their time, just one evening a week can make so much of a difference. Potential volunteers don’t need to have previous experience of youth work or first aid as full training is given.

“This is a very worthwhile role, supporting young people in our communities and allowing them to learn how to save lives. These children and teenagers could be the difference between a life lost and a life saved in the future.”
