A WOMAN was raped in the early hours of Saturday morning as she walked through Windsor’s Alexandra Gardens.

Police are asking for the public’s help following the brutal attack which happened between 2.30am and 3am.

The victim, who is said by police to be in her twenties, left the Yellow Bar in Goswell Hill which leads down from Royal Windsor Shopping, before walking to Alexandra Gardens where the attack then took place.

She called the emergency services and the area was cordoned off while police forensic experts analysed the scene.

No description of the attacker had been made available by the police after talking with the victim as the Observer went to press.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bosley from Reading CID said: “The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers at this time.

“I would ask the public to make contact with us if they heard or saw anything suspicious in the area, no matter how small the detail.

“I’d like to reassure the public that this is a rare occurrence and anyone with any concerns should speak to their local neighbourhood team.”
