Talented ladies from a sewing circle in Old Windsor have spent three years working on a mammoth textile panel to hang in the village's parish church.

Circle member Eileen Reay said: "We felt that our village had a sufficiently long history, as the original Saxon palace which pre-dates Windsor Castlewas located by the river in the area where our parish church now stands.

"We began the work three years ago, and it is now ready to hang in the church as near to the origins of the village as is possible. Our panel is part embroidery, part applique and has been a very enjoyable project. It measures roughly 2.4 metres high by 1.2 metres wide."

Before it is placed in its final position high on the church wall you can enjoy a close up preview of the hanging at the church next Thursday, May 25 between 2pm to 4pm, on Friday, May 26 between 10am and noon and 2pm and 4pm and Saturday, May 27 between 10am and noon and 2pm to 5pm. Tea and cakes will be available Saturday afternoon.
