Windsor Lions celebrated the club's 55th birthday in style at the Guildhall.
The celebrated company included the Mayor of the Royal Borough Cllr Sayonara Luxton and the Lion’s District Governor David Taylor, as well Windsor Lions’ President Lion David Voyce and his wife Liz.
A representative of the Life Guards and The Blues and Royals provided the ‘guard of honour’ as the guests arrived which added to the sense of occasion.
The event raised £1200, half of which was for the benefit of the Household Cavalry with the remainder for Windsor Lions Club funds.
District Governor David Taylor gave the evening a real boost when he announced that Windsor Lions had been awarded the “5 Star Club” – the top award in the district – for its work in the Windsor community: he then made a presentation to the president David Voyce.
Mr Voyce said: “It was a great evening and everybody without exception thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Guildhall of course provides the perfect setting for such an occasion being our very special 55th birthday party and we were honoured that the Mayor could be with us.
"The icing on the cake of course was the news of the 'top club in the district' award – how proud I was to receive that on behalf of our very special club. My thanks to all our Club members who were involved in the evening’s organisation.”
