A BOY from Slough has become an internet sensation after an adorable moment with guards at Windsor Castle was caught on camera.

A video featuring Marshall Scott, four, of Long Furlong Drive, Slough, donning full soldier uniform complete with red jacket and distinctive bearskin hat, saluting the Coldstream Guard at Windsor Castle during the Changing of the Guard, went viral last week after it was shared on social media.

In the video, young Marshall salutes the passing guards until they are out of sight, before one of the guards, Lance Corporal Paul Edden, breaks protocol to come back out and make Marshall's day by posing for a photo with him.

It was taken on Wednesday January 4, Marshall's birthday, and was posted on Facebook the next morning by one of the Coldstream Guard, Charanpreet Singh.

Since then the video has racked up ten million views and the footage has been shared on news platforms worldwide, including the USA's Fox News, the Evening Standard, The Sun and French network Europe1.

Marshall has also made television appearances live on Sky News and on Forces TV.

His mother Imogen Scott, 21, said her son was "loving it".

She said: "He's loving it. He loved going on Sky News last night and to be honest he's just taking it all in his stride."

Marshall's fixation with becoming a soldier began when he was two, and he has already collected a plethora of military costumes, one of which was on display in the video.

Ms Scott said: "It started about two years ago, and since then he has always wanted to be a soldier. He's been marching around my house for ages."

After the video had circulated, it was revealed that Corporal Edden had invited Marshall for a tour of Windsor Castle in February.

Ms Scott said the week had been "mental".

She said: "It's been mental but good. I have really enjoyed it but it has been so busy and a bit overwhelming."

Imogen and Marshall had been due to make an appearance on ITV News but there is an issue surrounding usage rights because the tourist who actually filmed the video has sold it on.
