THERE were major disruptions to train services earlier this week after an elderly man was struck by a train minutes before rush-hour.
The 68-year-old, who has not yet been named, died after he was hit by a train near Twyford Station. The incident froze services between Maidenhead, Slough and London Paddington while emergency services cleared the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the incident shortly before 4pm on Tuesday, but it immediately became clear that the man had died.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "A person has sadly been pronounced dead.
"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Commuters travelling into London had already faced difficulties on Tuesday morning, after a lorry spilled fuel across a carriageway in the early hours of the morning.
