WINDSOR residents on a mission to slim down have donated their unwanted food to the homeless to avoid any post Christmas binges.

Members of the Windsor and Iver Slimming World groups dropped off bags full of cakes, chocolate, biscuits and more to Slough Homeless Our Concern (SHOC)'s headquarters Serena Hall.

Kelly Taylor, who runs the Windsor groups, said: "We just thought that instead of them eating all of the food they have left over and gaining more weight like we all do over Christmas, we would donate it to people who actually need it.

"We wanted to put a smile on both faces for the homeless people giving them foods they may not have had in a while and also to the members who are losing the pounds."

Two cars full of food were dropped off to SHOC, based in Burlington Road on Thursday morning. Mrs Taylor added: "They were over the moon."

In the last three weeks, members of the Windsor and Iver Slimming World groups have collectively lost 156 stone in weight. The groups are looking to do the same thing after Easter with unwanted chocolate Easter eggs.
