A SLOUGH-BASED radio station will be encouraging listeners to get involved with The Observer’s Toy Appeal.

Asian Star Radio, which broadcasts from the Observatory Shopping Centre, has signed up to be a drop-off point for this year’s appeal.

Sbba Siddique, station manager at Asian Star Radio, said: “When I saw details of the Toy Appeal in the paper it really stood out for us as something we wanted to get involved in.

“It’s a great initiative that’s helping so many different charities.”

Brand new, unwrapped toys for babies, children and teenagers are needed to be donated to social services in Slough, South Bucks and the Royal Borough, The Dash Charity – which helps victims of domestic abuse and their families and children – and Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service which is building Berkshire’s first children’s hospice in Maidenhead.

Gift ideas for younger children include toys, games, books, crafts, crayons and colouring books. For teenagers, items such as vouchers, clothes, toiletries, footballs and jewellery would be appreciated.
