A ROCKET, space food and a meteor rock brought a school's study of space to life this week.

Starchaser industries brought its Space 4 Schools programme to Farnham Common Infant School for year one pupils on Tuesday.

Elspeth Scott, year one teacher, said: "We are doing a topic on space this term and this was our big wow to start it off.

"We all had a really good time."

In the morning the children all made their own paper rockets, which were then launched using a pump.

A few pupils were able to try some space food, including freeze dried ice cream and they were also shown a meteor rock.

A large rocket was placed outside the school and caught the attention of both pupils and parents.

Miss Scott added: "The children were all quite amused and when the parents came in the morning, they were all quite fascinated by it.

"It took a while to get everyone into school in the morning."

Following the event, the children are now learning all about planets and will continue to study the topic of space this term.
