ZAC Curran and Rebecca Croft of Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow Athletics Club have been selected for Dame Kelly Holmes' 'Future Stars with Kelly' education day.

Curran, 17, was selected for the initiative after winning the silver medal in the senior boys 800 metres (m) at the Aviva English Schools Championships in July.

Fourteen-year-old Croft was chosen after a successful track season, including a personal best (pb) of 9:57.97seconds (secs), led to her being ranked number one in the UK for the U15 girls 3,000m.

Dame Kelly Holmes became an icon of the athletics world when winning gold in both the 800m and 1,500m at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and hopes to share her experiences with young athletes such as Curran and Croft.

"I always look forward to these education days as it is a chance for me to share my knowledge and experience with young athletes who are going through the same transition as I once did in my athletics career," said Holmes.

"The success of my Aviva sponsored 'On camp with Kelly' initiative has highlighted the importance of providing teenage athletes with educational training to support them physically, socially and psychologically." Holmes' education of future stars includes workshops on medical and injury prevention, physical training and anti-doping at Loughborough College on October 22.
