CELEBRITIES headed to LaplandUK in Ascot this month to get in the Christmas spirit and support an important charity.

In aid of its 2015 charity partner Rays of Sunshine , LaplandUK, based in Swinley Forest, welcomed X factor stars, singers, comedians and presenters for a gala.

Rays of Sunshine CEO Jane Sharp says, “We are so grateful to have been selected as LaplandUK’s charity partner again. Having experienced the charm of LaplandUK first hand, we know what an enchanting experience it is going to be for our wish families. Our mission is to put magic back into the lives of brave and deserving children across the country and LaplandUK is a perfect way for us to do that.”

The event started with a drinks reception at 5.30pm before the guests, including celebrities, children from Rays of Sunshine and VIP members of the public explored the UK's home to Father Christmas.

Since the charity was set up in 2003, Rays of Sunshine has granted more than 4,000 individual children’s wishes. Wishes can be as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a princess or a fireman for the day, visit Disneyland or LaplandUK, the charity works to make that wish come true.

The charity also grants ward wishes, which offer a distraction to hundreds of children during their time in hospital or a hospice.

X Factor stars Sam Bailey, Jay James and Melanie Masson, singer Suzanne Shaw, comedian Katherine Ryan, presenter Dominic Wood, and stars from the popular Ladies of London Caroline Stanbury and Juliet Angus were all in attendance to raise awareness of the vital work Rays of Sunshine provides.

Mike Battle, founder of LaplandUK said: “We are very pleased to be partnering with the fantastic charity Rays of Sunshine again for Christmas 2015. The ethos of LaplandUK is to make children’s dreams and wishes a reality and therefore the charity is the perfect fit for us. The Gala is a great way to provide these children with an exclusive experience at LaplandUK, raise awareness of the charity’s work and of course raise vital funds.”
