As loss of bone cannot be seen from the outside, a fracture can occur before osteoporosis has been diagnosed, hence its title the silent epidemic.
Osteoporosis Screening Services use an ultrasound machine to screen the density and structure of the bone which is quick, accurate, inexpensive, painless and non- invasive. Adults of all ages stand to benefit from an ultrasound scan to establish their bone status because the future likelihood of osteoporosis can be predicted and, with treatment or lifestyle changes, can possibly be prevented.
