We are all on the hunt for a bargain at the moment, which is why the new Nissan Pixo - a small car with a tiny price tag - is such an attractive proposition.
Avid car fans might recognise the Pixo, because it's basically the Suzuki Alto with a Nissan badge slapped on it, as it was created as part of a cost cutting agreement between the two firms. So, lookswise, it's not exactly revolutionary - although the price certainly is.
The car went on sale this week and costs just under six grand, making it the cheapest car in the entire Nissan range and a must for anyone looking for a cheap little runaround. Admittedly, it does come with a relatively modest level of specification, but at that price, what do you expect?
For example, on the entry-level version of the car, there's ABS, EBD, twin airbags and power steering, all of which are pretty standard fixtures and fittings these days.
For those wishing to travel in a slightly better equipped version of economy class - an extra £750 will get you the mid-range Pixo - the Acenta, which Nissan is anticipating will be the biggest seller.
This comes with the same features as the entry-level version, but also includes side airbags, remote central locking, electric front windows, front fog lamps and colour-coded mirrors and door handles.
And, for those with a little more cash to splash, prices for the top of the range Pixo model start from £7645, also features air-conditioning, ESP and curtain airbags too.
Powering this mighty little motor is a rather frugal three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine that delivers 64.2mpg on a combined cycle and pumps out just 103g/km of CO2 as it does so.
The Pixo is the first car in the Nissan range to sport its green credentials on its sleeve in the form of the company's Pure Drive badge, as a result of it's favourable CO2 emissions figure, highlighting that it's not just economical, the Pixo's environmentally friendly too.
