Calls for investigation

THE leader of the Liberal Democrats has called for an investigation following claims a political advisor to the Royal Borough was plotting a smear campaign.

Andre Walker resigned on Friday after a recorded phone conversation in which he conspires to oust the council's deputy leader Alison Knight was posted on YouTube.

Lib Dem leader Simon Werner is calling for an investigation to find out who was on the other end of the phone.

He said: "It is incredibly disappointing to hear of the Conservatives infighting at the Royal Borough. It is quite shocking that sort of thing goes on at a local council level.

"We would like to call for an investigation into who was on the other end of the line and if he was a councillor we would expect David Burbage to sack him immediately for bad behaviour.

"We don't know what he was saying, but Andre was saying all this stuff and he was listening to him."
