A SUPER slimmer determined to shed the pounds before his daughter's birth was delighted when his weight loss meant he could share the life-changing experience with his wife.
Proud dad Nigel Simpson, of Harwood Gardens, Old Windsor, could not believe his luck when he managed to squeeze into hospital scrubs when his wife, Kathryn went into labour.
Just weeks before the birth the 35-year-old decided it was time to lose weight oblivious to the fact it would determine whether he could witness the birth of his baby girl Isabella.
He said: "We were planning a home birth, but due to some complications my wife had to be taken to hospital for a Caesarean section. They said if I can't fit into the scrubs I can't go into theatre. They gave me the largest ones they had and I just wouldn't have got into them before. If I hadn't lost the weight I wouldn't have been able to experience my daughter being born. It's a life changing experience."
Mr Simpson weighed 19st 8lbs and has been on a strict diet shedding 13lbs in the first week and more than two stones in a month. He is determined to continue the programme and reach his ideal weight of 14st.
He said: "I just got really comfortable in terms of life and it ended up creeping up on me and one morning I woke up weighing 19st 8lbs. Isabella really motivated me to lose weight. I feel a lot healthier in myself.
"I have five nephews and when I was playing with them at Christmas I was out of breath, now I feel completely different. I am planning on losing more, the idea is to lose about four or five stones in weight."
