Windsor mums face Dragon's Den
By Gurpreet Samrai
TWO Windsor mums braved the heat of the Dragon’s Den to win funding for a new product designed to take the load off parents shopping with buggies.
On Monday night millions of viewers watched as entrepreneurs Charlotte Evans and Carolyn Jarvis unveiled their new product - Buggyboot - to the five investors in BBC2 show Dragons’ Den.
Mother of three, Charlotte, 44, said: “It was probably the hardest thing I have ever done. The experience was terrifying, the thought of whole-heartedly baring your soul to thousands of people.”
The product, which is designed to make life easier for shoppers loaded with bags and a child’s pushchair by providing extra storage and support for the buggy, secured £80,000 funding from Dragon Deborah Meaden.
The duo were delighted with their Dragon investor despite signing over a 30 percent stake in the company, which was double what they had originally pitched.
Carolyn Jarvis, 47, said: “We knew we had the right person as soon as we came out of the den. Deborah is a very experienced Dragon, she is very focused and can help us through the next stage of moving our company forward.”
Buggyboot Ltd, first formed in 2005 when the two friends combined their skills to develop the product.
