A headteacher has said he is "extremely proud" after his school maintained its Ofsted rating after a recent inspection.

Colnbrook C. of E. Primary School teaches 235 children aged between three and 11.

Since becoming an academy in 2013, the school has consistently met Ofsted's standards for a 'good' school.

The primary school once again got the education watchdog's stamp of approval after an inspection on 19 and 20 March.

The inspection involved seeking views from leaders, teachers, pupils, parents and governors as well as a scrutiny of a wide range of evidence.

In the proceeding report, Ofsted wrote: "Pupils respond positively to the high expectations of staff."

The school recognises achievements and effort through 'bonus points'.

The report adds: "Pupils enjoy learning and willingly volunteer to answer questions and make contributions to class discussions.

"The school’s values support pupils to develop self-confidence and consideration for others."

Pupils were seen helping and playing with each other and new students were given a buddy to help them settle in and make friends.

Extracurricular opportunities are "embraced" by pupils.

The inspector found that parents and carers value the school’s work highly. One told Ofsted that the school "fosters a supportive environment where children are encouraged to reach their full potential".

The "schools curriculum thinking is strong", but those joining part way through the year need more support to catch up. The school is actively putting more sessions on to help with the transition.

Ofsted adds: “Learning activities challenge pupils when they apply new learning” and “Pupils behave responsibly around the school”.

During the inspection, the inspector found that “Staff are very positive about working in the school”, “Parents and carers value the school’s work highly” and “The arrangements for safeguarding are effective”.

The school is part of Slough and East Berkshire Multi Academy Trust (SEBMAT).

Tom Brunson, headteacher, said in a letter to parents “Whilst an Ofsted outcome is not the only measure of success we rely on, it is extremely pleasing that the inspection report highlights some of the many strengths of our school.

"I am extremely proud of what we have achieved at Colnbrook since I became headteacher and I look forward to building on this, as we continue to strive for excellence for all.”

The report states that the school has accurately identified areas for further development.

Ofsted also stated improvements are needed in foundation subjects, where pupils do not recall or accurately understand previous learning.

The report states: "The school needs to embed its approaches to revisiting knowledge and assessment so that these address knowledge gaps and support pupils to remember important knowledge over time in all subjects."

Colnbrook C. of E. Primary School have shared that they have already started to make progress towards addressing the area for further improvement.

Chris Spencer, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Slough and East Berkshire Multi-Academy Trust (SEBMAT) said “This Trust school has advanced from strength to strength through Tom Brunson’s outstanding leadership.

"He has built a strong and committed team who clearly provide the pupils with high-quality education."
